On June 28, the lay faithful and the community of the Dumaguete Redemptorist Church joyfully celebrated the Feast of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, gathering in prayer and thanksgiving in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Most Rev. Julito B. Cortes, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Dumaguete, served as the main presider of the 10:00 AM Eucharistic Celebration, concelebrated by members of the clergy. In his homily, Bishop Cortes emphasized the importance of welcoming Christ into every aspect of our lives—into our homes, daily routines, and especially our decisions. Reflecting on the Sunday Gospel, he highlighted the call to conversion, encouraging the faithful to imitate Mary’s openness and willingness to receive God’s will with faith and trust.
During the Holy Mass, the icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help was turned over to the Basic Ecclesiastical Communities (BECs) of Bantayan, Pulantubig, and Buñao of the St. Therese of the Child Quasi-Parish, Pulantubig. 120 years of the Redemptorist presence in the Philippines and 68 years in the Diocese of Dumaguete, the church continues to expand to bring Christ to the people.
With the theme: “Make her known, loved, and honored throughout the world,” we are called to deepen our devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help and emulate her example of faith and unwavering trust in God.
Happy Feast Day of Our Mother of Perpetual Help!
